Exotic World of Bombay Art Deco:
Presentation & Indian Buffet

Join Heritage Vancouver and the Canadian Art Deco Society for a marvelous evening exploring the Art Deco architecture of Bombay, India. Navin Ramani, author of Bombay Art Deco Architecture, A Visual Journey 1930-1953, will provide insights into this fascinating and little-known history.
The evening will begin with wine and appetizers, followed by a lively presentation, and conclude with an authentic full-course Indian buffet.
Bombay contains a treasury of commercial, residential and public Art Deco architecturecreated during the glamorous and optimistic era of the 1930s and 1940s. This first generation of modern Indian architects, influenced by current fashionable trends, were eager to imbue the city with a new modern image.
Developing at the same time as the characteristic architecture of Miami Beach, the two cities exhibit similar scale, geometry, tropical vocabulary and love of romance. This lecture will be an insightful exploration of the beauty and abundance of the previously unrecognized Art Deco heritage of Bombay.

Join owner Danny Filippone for a night of stories, food, drink, and entertainment as he takes you on his famous "behind the scenes" tour of the historic family business. Aaron Chapman, author of the recently released book Liquor, Lust, and the Law: The Story of Vancouver's Legendary Penthouse Nightclub, will join Danny in a presentation which includes never before heard stories from the club's fascinating past..
